Need for Training

All organizations, large or small, have the difficulty responsibility of predicting their financial prospects. This function is as true in profit oriented organizations as it is among the public benefit organizations that mostly rely on fluctuating donor funding but still have to incur fixed expenses –rent, rates, staff emoluments, program cost among others. Thus, organization staff managing funds, and also those making finance –related policy decisions need to possess excellent skills in building financial forecasting models to guide decision making in those organizations/programs.

Overall Objective

This training enables you to have very good ability to build accurate forecasting models and use the data to scientifically measure your organization’s revenue and expenditure trends, costs and risks and use the data to arrive at credible conclusions for decision making.

What you will gain from this training

  • Ability to keep your organization out of financial difficulties through (early) recognition of latent financial hazards and possible deficits
  • You will be skilled on how to utilize forecasting tools and data to accurately determine the actual financial operation of your organization against the forecast to guide your decision making processes including making of essential amendments.
  • Provide the necessary financial leadership to your organization including controlling organization’s cash flow
  • Use the information to guide your resource mobilization strategies
  • Demonstrate the Financial feasibility of a (new) project/program to grantors thus increasing the possibility of accessing donor funding-(this is key especially for those in the micro finance sector)
  • When organizations/Institutions/Departments properly do their financial forecasts, they are able to identify their short/longer term financial requirements and can subsequently justify the need for borrowing or for further budgetary support from the government/line ministry
